Kiwi teens deserve the chance to play on the world stage**

LET’S DO IT TOGETHER !

THE PROBLEM

Every year, the talents of 4,000 of our most innovative, out-of-the-box thinkers are wasted.

WHY ?

Because the mainstream education system is designed for typical brains.

HERE’S THE REALITY

  • 44% of autistic people experience bullying at school

  • People with ADHD are 30% less likely to get a degree

  • People with ADHD are 3x more likely to complete suicide

Instead of thriving with their gifts these rangatahi are struggling...

“Mainstream absolutely does not fit kids like my son. His challenges have just grown to the point where his enthusiasm for learning, experimenting, creating has just about all gone. I'm trying to keep him motivated but it is getting more and more difficult..." (parent)

“It was in year 13 when it all came to a crashing head, with him barely getting NCEA level 3...

I believe if my son had been able to get the help he needed as a teenager he would have been able to come to terms with how he moves in the world a lot sooner." (parent)

WE NEED THOSE TALENTS !

Failing to provide quality education and opportunity to neurodivergent people does not harm just them and their whānau, but also New Zealand’s future.

Because of the way they are wired, these talented, neurodivergent learners are driven by innovation, creativity, big picture thinking, philosophical debate and deep dives.

We need these stargazers and trailblazers in our workplaces to tackle the many out-of-the box problems we are facing!

THE SOLUTION

The Hyphen Project’s talent incubator is here for neurodivergent school leavers aged 16-19 who have not been well served in mainstream education. Our COHORT, CO-WORKING, and COACHING initiatives foster their creativity and innovation while supporting the growth of work readiness and life skills that don’t get picked up automatically. The ultimate aim is to bridge the gap between these talented individuals and potential employers.

Over the next three years, we aim to empower our first 100+ participants with the connections, confidence, and concrete evidence necessary to pursue careers aligned with their talents, so WE CAN GROW AWESOME in Aotearoa.

  • GOAL 4

WE NEED $20K PER TEEN ***

WE NEED $20K PER TEEN ***

Our first cohort of rangatahi are currently participating in our first 6-month, full-time, face-to-face talent incubator programme. And the progress has been phenomonal! We want more talented, neurodivergent kiwi teens to benefit. To do that we need financial support.

Our programme is the first of its kind in New Zealand, and it’s used as a case study overseas!

$20k now can help transform the lives of these young people who have been failed by the education system -

Instead of becoming a mental health and social service burden, they can have the opportunity to be part of New Zealand’s next generation of leaders in innovation!
